Fun with Craig’s List

I originally posted this, just to see what I’d get and I actually got some responses.

Good day!
I understand you are interested in the purchase of a pure white unicorn?  At the moment I have several in my basement.  Firstly is Megathor, and oh what a mischievous pip she is!  She is around 7000 years old now but looks, at most, 6500.  If you’re looking to play a spirited game of Yahtzee, she’s your girl!  And Gartron — oh, I can hear the happy fellow romping now.  Tragically, he lost three legs in the fall of 2004…. terrible line-dancing accident… just awful.  Nonetheless, he is a dapper fellow made of gumdrops and rubies, and he will be your loyal friend for life if only you give him a little love and kindness.  Finally is Bill, the most magical of them all!  He is also the most evil.  His interests include purifying water, virgins, and being an  object of ideological and theological wonder.  As you can imagine, such are the ways of the most evil of beasts.  Let me know if you are interested in a friend (or maybe three!) to stand beside you for the next few millenniums. ;)  Thank you muchly!

Postscript: I am in position of several Llamacorns, as well.  If you’d like to know more, I will certainly oblige.

It’s nice to know I’m not the only twisted individual out there. :)

A Busy September

With school starting for everyone including me, I have had difficulty posting things as they happen. So allow me to express what we’ve been doing with our time via pictures.

A Busy Fall

Including Allyson’s First Day of School, The Four Town Fair, The Big-E (aka Eastern States Exposition), Enfield Family Day (including the Big 1K race for Alexis), Apple Picking at Johnny Appleseed, and a picnic arranged by my dad.

As the fall continues, I’m sure we’ll have time to breathe here and there, but it’s been crazy so far. ;)

Enjoy the pics.

I Own The Universe, Bitches!

Awhile back in July, Mary Robinette Kowal notified the world of the incredibly awesome raffle that KGB was having. Figuring I’d support it, I bought a few tickets. As with every raffle I enter, I usually forget about it and go on with my overly paranoid life.

Imagine my surprise when I received a rather large certificate envelope in the mail from a Brooklyn address. At first I thought it might have been a prank from one of the UCF’ers, but upon opening the crisp manilla colored envelope, I was astounded to find a certificate proclaiming ownership of the next newly discovered Wormhole (oddly capitalized).

Yep! Take a look. Click to embiggen each of them.

Here we have the Wormhole posing with other things such as dragons and pigs that fly. It’s got wings, trust me.

You should note that it’s signed by a noted and famous theorectical physicist, which is cool all by itself. So, just think, when those worm holes are discovered, people will be paying yours truly for access! Hell yeahs baby. My children’s, children’s, children’s, children will be thanking me one day.

Edited to add: By some odd coincidence, Tobias Buckell’s “Sly Mongoose” is in that second picture, which oddly enough, has wormholes in it. I’ll be definitely hitting up Tobias for some phat royalties.

Site Changes/Additions

I have changed the color of the pixel out player, but still haven’t figured out how to include a download link to each of the songs. Instead, if you mosey over to the Original Music page, I’ve put up three permanent seperate zip files for your enjoyment. They are available via this post as well.

The first folder contains only my vocals (with a few suprises in there). If you want the “Why Don’t You Love Me” - Kate and Scalzi song, you’re going to have to hit his page. I want to send as much traffic over to his site as possible.

The second is the techno/pop/happy beat instrumentals I’ve done.

The third could be considered chill/electronica/Holy Shit Space Monks instrumentals.

All folders have six songs and come out to be around 30-40MB for each zip folder.

The paypal button was broken on the page as well, but the one on the right hand side bar works just fine. Hint. Hint.

As always, thanks for listening!

Autumn Rain - World Premiere!

Let me know what you think. Music, lyrics and voice done by yours truly.

On another note: I know there are sound mixing issues. I am pretty sure my mic is on it’s last legs. Oh well, this is what you get from a home recording studio. Let me know if you like it regardless or if you don’t. :)

Just be nice.

A Few Notes

Pete is over at Viable Paradise and wanted me to keep his readers amused. Instead, I decided to write a completely conservative manifesto on the downfall of our financial system. Yes, I know you can’t get away from it as its everywhere in the news, however, I hope you walk away knowing that I while I feel sorry for those people who will be tossed from the homes they could not afford in the first place, I do not feel its my responsibility to bail anyone out or provide golden parachutes when I am struggling myself.

Go read it here.

Also, thanks to Andy who brought attention to the fact that my “How Not To Do A Podcast” link was teh brokes. It is now fixed. You should listen. If you’ve already listened, listen again. That’s an order.

Thirdly, thank you to all who were interested in helping support Lexie’s school fundraiser. You guys are the shizz-awesome.

Fourthly, I have submitted the “Filling the Moments” story to a few magazines on the encouraging reaction I got from all my readers. Hopefully someone will decide to pick it up. Wish me skill as I don’t believe in luck.

School Fundraising For Lexie

I sent this e-mail out to family, but what the hell, I might as well offer it up here as well:

It’s that time of year again to buy useless crap through fundraisers for Lexie’s school! Here is where I shamelessly beg, err, ask you to spend hard earned money on candle holders, miniature baby Jesus’ and wrapping paper!

All joking aside, there are some neat Patriots/Red Sox stuff in there for all you fans, and some cool gadgets and holiday stuff.

Because I’ve been so busy and am now working from home, this seems like it would be the best way to help out if you are able.

Let me know if you have any questions and as always, thanks guys. If you do end up buying anything, shoot me an e-mail so I can get Lexie excited.

As an aside, if you’re interested, go ahead and comment or send an e-mail to me in the section below. I’ll send you the login information. I don’t want the information getting into the wrong hands.

Thanks guys, you are the best!

Marie Digby - One Word, “Wow!”

One of the best natural voices I’ve heard in a while.

Here is a professional version of her song “Say It Again” and a more amateur filming of “Swoon”. I love the fact that there is no real difference in her voice between professional rendering and live. That’s what I hope to do with my voice actually. Not to mention, she’s cute. Which I hope to be too. ;)

Psychology Class - College Life

As you know, I’m taking an online psychology class. Part of my grade consists of discussions with other people in my “class.” Imagine my surprise when upon signing in this evening, I had 3 e-mails from a very disturbed classmate on the subject of animal rights during research. One of her horribly misspelled diatribes was summed up in three words. “yuo are wrnog”

I’m not kidding.

I couldn’t help but get angry. First of all, if you are going to call me out on my opinion, do it in a manner where I am not cursing you for your misspellings. Second, if you’re going to tell me I’m wrong, back it up with opinions and more importantly facts.

The fact that she attacked me in e-mail, showed her cowardice in not bringing her oh-so intelligent opinions out into the discussion queue. Instead of letting my anger get the best of me, I went back to the original discussion, and wrote the following:

Actually, Cynthia, I am not trying to change anyone’s opinion. Aside from all your snide, out-of-discussion e-mails you’ve sent me, I am simply trying to argue the other side here. It is very obvious you view animal research as an evil thing and unfortunately, it’s one of those cases where no amount of reading or checking facts will make you objectively view this topic. C’est la vie.

I really wanted to continue with, “Thanks for being yet another closed minded individual. I thank you for your lovely anti-social and uneducated addition to society”. However, I stopped.

I’m such a bitch.

I leave you with the opening paragraph of my Chapter 5 psychology module:

In a jar on a display shelf in Cornell University’s psychology department resides the well-preserved brain of Edward Bradford Titchener, a great turn-of-the-century experimental psychologist and proponent of the study of consciousness. Imagine yourself gazing at that wrinkled mass of grayish tissue, wondering if in any sense Titchener is still in there.

– Psychology (Eigth Edition in Modules) by David G. Meyers

If I were Titchener, I’d be fucking pissed.

This Is Why I Like Blizzard, Arrrr!

They’ve got costumers all around near inns, dressing people like pirates today.

This is my priest on World Of Warcraft having a little fun.
