The Podcast WhirlWind (aka Awesome News!)

Posted by Kate on Tuesday Sep 29, 2009

Some big news to report on multiple fronts!

I’ve been invited to be “Podcast Director” (get a load of the official title) for Clarkesworld Magazine! That’s right, I’ve joined the staff of the Hugo Nominated Magazine! What will I be doing, exactly? I’ll be coordinating podcasts for the monthly releases, and introducing some new and exciting content as the magazine continues to grow.

Do me a favor? Mention the magazine to your friends, have them mention us to their friends! (I can actually say “us” now! *Squee*)

In other news, I’ve been interviewed by the wonderful Charles Tan over at Bibliophile Stalker. I am quite humbled as this was my first interview ever, but Charles made me feel welcome. Thanks, Charles. You’re the best!

I also have a narration up at Escape Pod as well this week. You should go over there and take a listen! “The Kindness of Strangers” by Nancy Kress opens discussion about our true selves. When disaster of epic proportion, propagated by aliens strikes, who do we become? Do we change or do we show our true colors?  Two more narrations are  in the pipeline for Jeremy Tolbert and the good folks at EP.

I will also have another narration up on Clarkesworld as we hit October 1st. I can’t say much about this one and will update the blog when it comes around. As a narrator, I am still digesting and it’s been a few days since I read it.

Tony C. Smith with StarShipSofa has given me another story to add to the two I’m still working on as well. Again, I’ll update when those are done and published.

I’ve updated the podcasts/narration page with the stuff that is just recently out. Enjoy!

It’s been a whirlwind and I have only to thank those of you who have cheered me on, listened and recommended my readings to others. You guys get all the credit here. Not me.

Author Q&A : Tom Kratman

Posted by Kate on Friday Apr 4, 2008

Liberals, beware! For the next two weeks, Pete will be speaking with Tom Kratman, author of A Desert Called Peace, Carnifex, and Watch on the Rhine. His newest novel, Caliphate, hit stores on April 1st. Thus far the Amazon reviews are a testament to Tom’s skill as a writer and as a man who pulls no punches.

You can find the interview over here.

New Patrick Rothfuss Interview

Posted by Kate on Friday Mar 21, 2008

For those of you who are interested, the new author interview with Patrick Rothfuss is up on Pete’s site. Pat wrote “The Name of the Wind”, which in my opinion is one of my favorite Fantasy books of all time, and is an instant classic.

I met Pat back in Boston a few months ago, and despite the hobbit-esque hairiness, he is a both a gentleman and scholar. If you ever get the chance to attend a signing or a reading, do not miss out.

Enjoy the interview and feel free to leave comments!

Some Cool F’in Stuff…

Posted by Kate on Monday Mar 3, 2008

…is coming to Peter-Hodges.com and to Amnesia within the next few months.

If you were one of those geeky kids in high school that actually like dismantling literary classics during English period, then boy do we have a treat for you! Starting soon, we will be discussing  Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation”. Depending on participation and success of this little project, this will be an ongoing event. If you are interested, the classics round table discussion sign-up information has been moved to the forums. Please sign up there. We have four interested already; We would ideally like to get a few more before we kick off the discussion.

Our interview with Lee Stephen, author of Dawn of Destiny and “Outlaw Trigger”was a great success. We’re going to try and make this a periodic Friday activity. Over the next two Fridays, we have Jack Campbell, author of The Lost Fleet series talking with us, and in two weeks, we have the delightfully witty Patrick Rothfuss, author of The Name of the Wind, answering our foolish questions. I would encourage everyone to stop by and see what these awesome professionals have to say about life, writing, and their great characters.

John Scalzi has also agreed to do an interview for our weekly author Q&A segment. Look for this one in early May. If the logistics actually work, this one might be a podcast. *jumps up and down with glee*

The O’Leary Letters have continued to generate a lot of interest as well, and the new podcast should be up tomorrow.
