And The Future Darwin Award Goes To…
Posted by Kate on Monday Mar 2, 2009 Under WTFI remember reading this article yesterday when she was first pulled over for breastfeeding at the wheel and shook my head. Now, she says she’ll do it again if needed because she’s not going to let something as stupid as a possible car accident keep her from feeding that child.
WTF?
Let me make something perfectly clear. I am not against breastfeeding. I used to do it. It’s supposed to be a special time for you and your child while relaxed and uh, safe. The cop is right, someone hits you or you hit anything going 15 mph or above, that baby is dead. Unlike her adult body mass that can absorb a good portion of a crash but still come out pretty bruised on the BREAST bone and chest area, anything in that general vincity is going to be pretty hurting, especially the continually forming skull of an infant.
“Walking down the street can be dangerous.”
Really? Did she just say that walking down the street is just as dangerous as having your infant suckling a breast while driving your car? I mean, the cop, who I’m sure has seen tons of mangled bodies involved in tragic accidents where people were actually doing things right, has absolutely no expertise in this matter. So you go ahead and keep feeding that crying child at 45 mph, cause you’re a winner. Yes, you are.

I read about this the other day and this Mom is just convinced that she’s being persecuted. What an idiot.

Stupid people like this make my brain hurt. Sure, if she’s strapped in and breast feeding and the air bag goes off it’s no difference to her. In fact, she’ll have the extra cusion of the baby. The baby, though, might have something else to say about it.
This is the kind of parent that makes me think that a person should be licensed to have kids. Too bad that would be wrong. *grumble grumble*

Well Nathan, she IS being persecuted at the moment because she is being very stupid.
And I agree with Matt. You need a license to do most anything these days, but apparently one isn’t needed for one of the most important jobs on the planet, raising offspring. No wonder we are doomed to devolve.
