Joe Lieberman Is a F’in Snake.

   Posted by: Kate   in Politics

I am actually grateful that the Gore ticket was overthrown by the courts in 2000, and not for the reasons that Republicans would herald.

Joe Lieberman is a snake. Taking a page out of the diary belonging to King Henry the Eighth, Joe lost the democratic primary for the senate seat in Connecticut, so he changed the rules. He shit on all the voters and ran as an Independent Democrat.

Wha?

He ended up winning anyway, and is now a tool of the senate to swing votes. Some may defend and offer that he played the game of politics and came out the victor, but if you change the fundamental rules halfway through a hand, are you playing the same game?

“No, Kate, you can’t pass go anymore. You just fucking can’t. I don’t care what you think. I know you wanted to play the game fairly, but you were winning…”

Now he’s sounding more and more like a Republican especially on Meet the Press. My stomach rolled at his responses, while I think John Kerry was muttering epithets under his breath while not on camera. I’m actually curious if Lieberman is coming to McCain’s defense because he’s bitter having failed his own Democratic Presidential bid, or perhaps he’s finally realized that running under the party name, “Connecticut for Lieberman” made him a glorified whore of the US Senate.

I don’t trust him.

Some news articles suggest that he’s maneuvering to be considered for the Republican veep ticket and this cozying up to the Republican party confirms it. I hope McCain chooses him, I think it would finally sink the party after the very liberal media rips Lieberman apart and exposes him as the cheat he really is.

The guy has more flip-flops than a public beach in summer.

Slither slither goes the snake.

I have no problem with Joe Lieberman deciding to run as an independent when he lost the Democratic Primary. IIRC, the party was pissed off at him at the time and engineered that defeat, so I say, all’s fair in that regard.

Having said that, the man has annoyed the crap out of me for a long time (and I’m not just talking about that horrible whiney voice of his). I find it interesting that twice (more?) he made the argument that our tough economic times are what Obama doesn’t have the experience to deal with. Didn’t McCain make a point of saying that Economics weren’t his strong suit…that he’d need good advisers on the topic? Didn’t he say that we should elect him because of his Foreign Policy experience?

Gosh. It’d be terrible to have a President that Europe respects. Yeah! I’m convinced.

He’s been a Republican in all but name for a very long time. He might give a speech at the Republican convention!

Many Independents and Conservative Democrats appear Republican… but then, nowadays Republicans don’t look or act like Republicans. The terms “Democrat” and “Republican” have little meaning as philosophies or methods of governance (though they used to). As parties reaching for diverse constituencies, they are almost indistinguishable. Today they represent positions on social issues that have little or nothing to do with federal government. The parties may as well be called “For” and “Against” as we insert cue cards with printed social issues between them.

Both sides are unreasonable in their attacks on the candidates. Neither candidate will make policy without the input of advisors. Neither candidate has the experience to lead a nation at war, repair the economy, etc. And if you’re annoyed now, things are only going to get worse as the countdown to the election grows shorter.
