Annoyed but Happy (aka. I’m weird)

   Posted by: Kate   in Life

Anytime I leave the house for numerous hours at a time, my father decides he wants to save money by turning off the central air. Considering temps rose to about 95 today, you can imagine my surprise when I got home and my entire living space was effectively hotter than the surface of the sun.

I can understand he wants to save money here and there, but when I get too hot (Especially after driving to Boston, sitting through a 9 hour meeting and then driving home) I get just a wee bit cranky. Not to mention, it takes about 8 hours for central air to effectively drain the house of heat to cool it again, which I’m assuming probably wastes more money than leaving it on a stable temp.

I went from freezing to death at the company meeting, to withering on the proverbial vine.

I’d hug ya dad, but I’m too sweaty. :)

We call that old school.

a fan and ice and lemonade was enough for the old school.

toughen up, rub some dirt on it, walk it off, put some butter on it… :P

seriously, I have my AC on more than an hour before I get home because the sun is on my apartment from noon on.

My wife cranks the AC. When we were in the appartment (third floor) our AC went out and it took the realty company that owned the building a week to fix it (in mid August). When they finally did, I came home to find my wife asleep on the couch, right in front of the AC unit which she had blasting out so much cold air that she had to put a blanket on.

You’ll save more money by keeping the unit set to 78 auto when you leave.and then 72 auto when you get back.
