Exhausted…
Well, I’m now sitting in Atlanta waiting for my connecting flight home to Hartford. I am extremely tired and worn out.
Cleaning out the offices turned out to be rather hard labor for a girl who’s used to paperwork and computers at her job. Neither the Cleveland nor the Cinci office had cleaning crews who would take out excess garbage, so the task of taking large piles of trash down freight elevators to the dumpsters ultimately fell to me. As you can imagine, Kate is tired. Kate will probably be taking tomorrow off.
I was hoping to hop a short puddle jumper from Cleveland to Cinci mid-week, but apparently if you fly in the same state, at the last minute, it’s like $1200.00. So I drove. 3 1/2 hours later, I made it to Cincinatti. I took 71 South ( I think.) It was a rather pretty drive in good weather, with sprawling fields and newborn blooming trees.
Traffic was not bad in either city, during rush hour no less. I found that mildly odd. Even in Hartford, 4:30-6:00 p.m, traffic can get rather hectic. It might be because of the 250 cop cars I saw each way, waiting for speeders. I usually push speed limits 5-15 mph depending on the speed of traffic, but I was terrified that in the rental car from Illinois, I’d be a target. This was extremely frustrating and after speaking with people familiar with the lovely law enforcement in the great state of Ohio, that I was right in my paranoia.
The good news is that I ended up killing a few birds with one stone on this trip. My boss about two weeks ago, was put under pressure to clean out the Cleveland office for restructure after a company was interested in a sublease. Neither of the Ohio offices were supposed to be done until June. I managed to clean Cleveland quickly, so I figured why not try to get the other office done! I will not have to go back to Cinci later on in June, after working my ass off to clean it this week. This makes me very happy.
While I love to travel, I hate being away from my family.
Now I get to sort through all of my expense receipts. Bleh.

I project manage a lot of office moves - the technology side anyway - but I rarely have to participate. When we moved our Seattle office, though, on a shoestring budget it was hard work! I sympathize. I did get a couple pieces of decent castoff office furniture out of the deal though.
Enjoy being back home!
