I’ve made up my mind that I want to go back to school to pursue a degree. There is a program at a local college right down the road that I’m applying for, but I think I might get bounced based on financial need. I’m in that horrible bracket of people that lives paycheck to paycheck, but makes enough that I don’t qualify for aid.
It’s a shame, really. With the rising costs of everything and deflation of the dollar, it may be years before I can, if ever, afford to go back to college. I was looking to get a bachelor’s in elementary education to become a teacher, as I love children and would cherish the opportunity to help mold today’s youth.
I guess we’ll see what FAFSA comes up with, and whether or not the college will consider despite the numbers they see on paper. Raising three kids, caring for a father and fighting the downturn in the economy, should be a consideration if they wish to help me achieve my dream.
Any of you out there know of any millionaires who’d be willing to send a dedicated 30 year old divorcee back to school?
Here is the program in which I’m interested. It’s fully accredited and I will be certified in Massachusetts only to take a test for certification in Connecticut upon my graduation in 3 -4 years.
Last night, the family went to a school sponsored juggling/yoyo show, and while he didn’t actually juggle his yoyos, he did do something called ‘contact juggling’. I was mesmerized throughout that part of the performance as it brought up old memories of watching Labyrinth with David Bowie. I can remember even as a child being awestruck as he handled his crystal orbs.
I think, this might be something I endeavor to learn.
