Oh Noes! It’s a Random Update!

I finally have a chance to breathe, before I get swept away in the flood that is my life at the moment. What can I say? I’ve been a busy beaver, hence why the posts this November have slacked off.

So, what’s new you ask? Well, just because I like you, I’ll tell you.

I’m buying a house. It was a rather whirlwind thing. I called a realtor about renting a house, and for the prices of renting a house, he said I could buy one. So we went looking and found a cute little house in the town in which I grew up. So far things are progressing nicely, but it does mean that I do have to start packing, tie up loose ends here, register Alexis for another elementary school and whatever else comes with moving to my own abode.

I’m crossing my fingers, knocking on wood and not stepping under any ladders hoping that everything goes smoothly. Ultimately, I would still like to head down south in a few years, where my money is going to go a lot further, but there is no harm in making an investment while my kids get a little older. They’ll have a yard, we’ll all have some privacy (and ample parking) and at the end of the day, when I sell the house, I’ll have money for a down payment on a house down in the land where Bbq is king.

What else? My office is shutting down in May. Apparently in our quest for world domination, we are consolidating and minimizing our expenses to improve our bottom line. While I’ll enjoy sending out email in my pajamas, I think I will miss the social interaction that I was initially seeking when I first looked for a job back almost 6 years ago.

I will be doing some travelling in the coming months to Reston, VA, probably West Conshohocken, PA,  and perhaps other locations to help close offices that don’t have admins. I’m actually looking forward to it, because it gets me out of Connecticut for a few days and I can put one more pushpin in a place that I’ve been able to visit.

I’ve been guest posting for Peter Hodges while he’s been busy and away for work. Feel free to visit over there if you’ve got nothing better to do.

For those of You Who Know Pete…

I will be adding a new podcast today as well, and I’m trying to come up with some generic demos for my voice work.

Oh well, I guess it’s back to the grind stone. So, what’s new with you?
