For those of you who’ve been with me from the beginning of my blog, you’ve seen that I am passionate about Veteran’s rights and support. The last line of the Star Spangled Banner says it all.
“…and the home, of the brave.”
We owe them our lives, we owe them our safety, and above all else, we owe them our daily gratitude. It’s time we were in the service of these men and women and took care of them for a change.
In a beautiful tribute to the uniformed, who have served to keep us free, Peter Hodges brings us back to World War 2 and gives us an emotional glimpse into the struggles and triumph of the greatest generation.
If you do one thing this upcoming Veteran’s day, besides thanking every serviceman or woman that you meet, is to read this and feel the sheer power of a most unlikely interview.
You know I had to hold my breath throughout the entire bottom of the ninth. I was turning blue and hissing, “Just throw your last pitch, Jonathan. Just throw it. It’ll be over soon. You can go home. I can go to bed.”
Well they did it.
If the Rockies continue with this type of ‘nothing to lose’ attitude, they are going to be hard to beat next year. Congratulations to a very young and talented team.
Without further ado, I present your World Champions…..
Scalzi’s Weekend Assignment #189: Amuse me, damn it!
Yeah, that’s right. You amuse me for a change. Tell me a joke. Tell me a story. Show me a funny picture. point to a good online video game. Suggest a good book or movie. Link me to a diverting YouTube or AOL Video, like those soda/Mentos fountain things (but not that, I’ve already seen those). Anything, people, just as long as it’s amusing. You know, something you think I would like. Like what, you say? Well, you know. Surprise me.Extra credit: Share your favorite pun. I love me a good pun.
Here are mine!
The first one is SuperPacMarioMan! Play at your own risk!
The second (and strangely linked with the video above): PACPUMPKINS! Although I know you’ll be in France during Halloween, this is something that Krissy and Athena can do (provided they’re not going with you)!
